Information Technology Team

The Indiana School for the Deaf recognizes that access to technology in school gives students greater opportunities to learn, engage, communicate, and develop skills that will prepare them for work, life, and citizenship. We are committed to helping students develop progressive technology and communication skills.

MISSION

The Indiana School for the Deaf strives to be the premier comprehensive center providing education, services and resources for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, their families, and educational partners.

VISION

Technologies that enable or provide a true bilingual environment are needed everywhere on the campus, and should be used all the time. Every opportunity that allow for true, equal accesses in resources by every single student and staff should be incorporated daily. The school's use of video conferencing, web cams, ISDTV, digital cameras, visual presenters, digital video cameras, and more, enables true, equal access.

Student Technology Fee

All students in grades K-12 will need to pay an annual $40 technology fee. This fee must be paid before students will be allowed to use school owned devices.  This fee allows ISD to keep up with technology updates and supports the refresh of our devices every couple of years. It also allows for student devices to be covered by an insurance policy that will cover the repair of any accidental damages that may occur during the school year. Students just need to bring the device to the technology staff and it will be repaired at no additional cost to students or parents.

The fee may be paid in cash, check, or online. Cash and check can be mailed to ISD before the school year starts or sent with your child on the first day of school. Remember: Your child will not get his/her iPad until this fee is paid. Many classes require the use of the iPad for access to important resources and textbooks, so please pay as soon as possible.
